Gayle Ann McLaughlin (1961-2022), 60, of Quincy, MA, formerly of South Boston, passed away after a fierce battle with lung cancer on February 17, 2022.
Gayle was born and raised in South Boston, MA. During her life, she worked in the culinary field for many years. Gayle is fondly remembered for her sharp quick-wit and no-nonsense personality. She was excellent at providing valuable advice and guidance, and was always willing to help a friend in need. She loved the color lavender and her “big-girl” high-platform sneakers so she could stand tall against the world. She wore vibrant colored hats and an exciting assortment of earrings to match her personality and every holiday occasion you could think of. Gayle enjoyed hosting St. Patrick’s Day parties from her East Broadway Southie apartment until moving to Quincy in recent years. Her friends and neighbors always enjoyed her over the top decorations for every holiday occasion. As a loving aunt, Gayle always provided for her nephews and nieces during their youth and into adulthood, as though they were her own children. She will be missed dearly by her family and friends.
Gayle is preceded in death by her parents, Louise E McLaughlin (Brennan) (2010) and Richard O. McLaughlin (2001), and her stepmother CeCe.
Gayle is survived by her partner of 16 years, Roy “Tony” Ganger, her beloved nephews Edwin O. McLaughlin, Jr. of Quincy and his wife Valentina, Nicholas L. McLaughlin of Fall River and his fiancée Nikki, Mark A. Brown of Boston, Shawn McLaughlin of New Hampshire, and niece Jennifer G. McLaughlin of Fall River and her partner Phillip. Gayle is also survived by her grandniece and grandnephews, Jayson and Makayla DeCosta, and Mia Brown; and her brothers, Edwin O. McLaughlin Sr. and Richard A. McLaughlin.
