ANDOVER, MA - BAUN, Philip J., Jr., “Phil” of Andover, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, February 18, 2022.
Born on August 5, 1937 in Arcadia, Wisconsin, he was the son of the late Philip J., Sr. and Margaret A. (Hurda) Baun, he was known as “Jack” to friends and family. A graduate of Delavan (WI) High School, Class of 1955, he later earned an undergraduate degree at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and a graduate degree in Electrical Engineering from Northeastern University. He worked as an Engineer at AT&T Bell Laboratories in North Andover for 30 years, and later Wang, MultiLink, and as a consultant to Lucent Technologies.
An avid bowler, he also enjoyed spending time with his family, road trips to visit relatives and friends in Wisconsin, woodworking, and genealogy research. His enthusiasm for computer programming spanned decades; from the days of the punch card, to learning programming languages, assembling his own early personal home computers, to digitizing photographs, preserving family slides, and historical documents for genealogy research.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Kathrin J. (Sztucinski) Baun, devoted father to Sarah A. Baun of Natick, Philip J. Baun, III of Natick, Jennifer G. McClory and her husband Scott of Danbury, New Hampshire, and Amy B. Roell and her husband John of Manchester, New Hampshire. He is also survived by 6 beloved grandchildren, Ashley and her husband Jason, Michael and his wife Caitlin, Christopher, Samuel, Kathrine, Henry; and by many nieces and nephews, and one great-granddaughter.
Calling hours will be held in the Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 390 North Main Street, Andover on Wednesday, February 23, 2022, from 4 to 7:30. Phil's Memorial Service will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday, following the calling hours, at 7:30 PM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.
