Abraham “Mitzi” Engber of Melrose and formerly of Chelsea passed on February 17. He was the beloved husband of 70 years of Irene (Saganov) Engber. Abraham was a proud WW2 Veteran who served in the US Navy aboard Aircraft Carrier USS Bunker Hill. During his service Abraham earned 13 battle stars. After serving he became a partner in the family business, L. Engber and Sons Textile Co. located in Chelsea. Abraham was a proud Chelsea native, who hung out with buddies on 5th Street and met some of his closest lifelong friends from the Chelsea Schools. Abraham was a tremendous athlete who loved watching sports and was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan. He also was a Mason at the Germania Boston Lodge and a long-time member of Temple Emmanuel.
Abraham was the devoted father of Jeffrey Engber and his wife Cassandra and Michele Engber and her loving companion Joe DiMarino. He was the dear brother of the late Fred Engber, the late Louis Engber, and the late Sarah Litchman and the loving grandfather of Corinne and Melanie. Graveside services will be held on Sunday, February 20, 12 Noon at Temple Emmanuel Cemetery, 16 Buxton Road, Danvers.
