Arthur B Rogers was born on September 22, 1953, to the late Luther Thomas Rogers and Goldie Mae Rogers in Boston Massachusetts. He departed this life on February 11, 2022, after a lengthy illness. Just like he dealt with all experiences in life, Arthur B Rogers managed his illness with strength and grace. He wanted to spend as much time with his loved ones as possible. On his final day, he was surrounded by his wife of 49 years, his children, and grandchildren who he cherished more than anything else in the world.
Arthur attended Boston Technical High School in Boston, Massachusetts. He excelled in math and had a keen interest in history. After graduating High School, Arthur attended the University of Maine. He was awarded a full basketball scholarship. Arthur was also a member of BNBL – Boston Neighborhood Basketball League. He was skilled, and an all-around outstanding player.
Arthur was known to his family and friends at Bucky or Buck, a name bestowed on him by his father. In 1974, Bucky became a Sheet Metal Apprentice, and his career progressed from Journeymen, Master, Foreman. Bucky was also skilled in drafting. Many of the buildings in Boston carry his mark. Bucky was a proud union man. A member of Local 17 he retired in 2008.
On October 7, 1972, Bucky married his childhood sweetheart Phoebe Fay. Of their 49-year union, six children were born, two adopted, making them a family of ten. Bucky was a family man who consistently put his family first. He was a loving and supportive father, and adoring husband. His love, knowledge and guidance were the foundation of his family.
Bucky enjoyed sports, traveling to visit family, grilling, music, dancing and singing. He was very social and enjoyed a good card game. He spent most of his retirement traveling, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends.
Bucky leaves to mourn his passing His loving wife Phoebe Fay Rogers. Children: Felicia Woodley (James), Kimberly Rogers, Wendy Cedeno (Kevin), Wade Rogers, Tayo Oreboto, Nyree Ruiz (Bryant) Josilyn Hines (Mark). Bonus Children: Henry Cobb and Paul Cobb they were like Sons to Bucky. Mary Frances Miles Finance of Wade Rogers. Grandchildren: Daequan Thompson-Rogers, Austin Sumrall, James Woodley Jr., Michael Woodley, Gabriel Bakaki-Rogers, Ivan Ruiz, Khalil Hines, Ila Ruiz, Kaalyla Hines and Israel Ruiz. Siblings: Robert Rogers (predeceased), John Rogers (Remetrious), Joyce Smith (Roosevelt) Patricia Richardson and Cassandra Claiborne. In addition, Bucky leaves a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, aunts, sister and brother in laws, extended family and friends.
Visiting hours will be held at the Casper Funeral Home on Saturday, February 26th, 2022 from 10am to 12pm. Followed by interment in Fairview Cemetery.
