BROCKTON — Ronald Normandin, age 71 years, of East Freetown, died Tuesday, April 25, 2006, at the Brockton Veterans Facility. He was the husband of the late Lorraine (Correira) Normandin.
Born in Oak Bluffs, Ma., he was the son of the late Leo E., and Lucy (Andrews) Normandin. After high school he joined the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and after three years of service he was discharged as a Disabled American Veteran. He was the recipient of the Army Occupational Medal and the National Defense Service Medal serving with Med. Co., 6th Infantry Regiment as a Private.
He is survived by two sons, Ronald D. Normandin and his wife Elizabeth of Vacaville, Ca., and Leo R. Dupras and his wife Milou of New Bedford; five daughters, Lois A. Amaral and her husband Jeff of East Freetown, Doreen A. Magalhaes and her husband Manuel of New Bedford, Rebekah C. Constant and her husband Michael of New Bedford, Audrey A. Santos of Worcester, and Kathleen Amidon and her husband Tom of Rockledge, Fla.; and two brothers, Raymond Normandin and his wife Jan of Plymouth, N.H. and Robert Normandin and his wife Fran of Bridgewater. He was brother of the late Richard Normandin.
Visitation will take place on Sunday April 30, 2006, from 1-3 P.M. in the Wilson Chapel, 479 County St., New Bedford followed by a memorial service in the East Freetown Congregational Church at 4 P.M. Friends will gather at the funeral home on Monday at 11:30 a.m. to meet and then process to the VA National Cemetery in Bourne for a 1:30 p.m. graveside service.
