Ernest J. “Butch” Vozzella, Jr., age 64, of Mansfield, passed away unexpectedly, yet peacefully at home on Tuesday, February 15, 2022. He was the beloved husband of Theresa M. (LaRonde) Vozzella, to whom he was wed on April 12, 1986.
Born in Norwood, MA on August 16, 1957, he was a loving son of the late Ernest J., Sr. and Helen (Constantino) Vozzella.
Butch grew up in Dedham and was a graduate of Dedham High School. He had made his home in Mansfield for the past thirty-one years and prior to retiring had for worked for nearly forty years as a conductor for AMTRAK. He later worked parttime at the Infinity Center in Mansfield.
Ernie loved spending time with his adoring family and friends, especially at his “home away from home “at the Kokatosi Campground in Raymond, Maine, where friends always became family.
Mr. Vozzella was formerly involved with Mansfield Pop Warner Football, running the “Hornet’s Nest” concession stand, serving as an equipment manager and also volunteering his time as an equipment manager at Southeastern Regional Vocational Technical High School in Easton. He loved cooking, giving to others and was an avid New England sports fan who totally enjoyed tailgating at Patriots games.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his devoted children: Ernest J. Vozzella, III of Mansfield and Felicia M. Vozzella of Mansfield. He was the dear son-in-law of Lawrence LaRonde of South Carolina and the late Elaine LaRonde. He is also survived by his best four-legged friend “Coco”, as well as many loving cousins, nieces, nephews and numerous friends.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Saturday, February 19th from 2:00-5:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main Street, Mansfield. Burial will be private.
