WHITMAN - Donald K. Voudren, 93, a long time native of Whitman, MA, passed away February 13, 2022.
Donald was born Feb. 5, 1929, to Henry N. and Margaret (Murphy) Voudren. He married his wife of 65 years, Helen J. Martell, on Sep. 1, 1954 in Hanson, MA and they raised their family in Whitman.
Survivors include their children Donna Griffin, Donald C. Voudren, Wendy Chirokas, Roxanne Taylor, Brenda Gaskill, John Voudren, & Helen Marrow; as well as his many grandchildren & great grandchildren, niece Gloria Perkins, nephew Sonny Shenett, and dog Bella.
Donald was a former employee of Griffin Steel, Stoughton Steel, E. Norris Brown, and Brockton Typsetter.
He was preceded in death by his wife Helen, his parents, and his siblings, Edward, Edith, Ethel, Frederick, Alton, & Genevieve.
Donald was a dog lover and throughout his life, he had many loyal canine companions.
He was skilled at working with his hands and was an avid woodworker and mechanic. If something was broken and could be fixed, he was the one who could fix it. Donald also enjoyed driving Cadillacs, listening to country music and watching the Grand Ole Opry, avoiding highways and taking the back roads, as well as watching movies, especially horror flicks. No doubt most of his grandkids first horror movies were seen from his couch. Although not known to be chatty, he’d chime in with a “You know these movies aren’t real, right?” during the scarier moments of the films.
He will be missed dearly by those who love him.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Friday February 18, from 4-6pm at Blanchard Funeral Chapel, 666 Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman.
