On February 12, 2022, at the age of 92, Marie Claire Lafontant (Janvier) died peacefully while sleeping at her home in Saugus, MA, after a lengthy struggle with Alzheimer's. She was born in Haiti on February 2, 1930. Marie Claire was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed life, music, dancing, family and friends, and, most importantly, she loved GOD. She was a seamstress, and her favorite garments to sew were bridal gowns and carnival costumes. Her gentle nature and cheerful spirit brought lots of joy to anyone she met. Her presence alone can light up a room; she was adored by so many.
She is survived by her beloved children and Spouses: Yanick and Jean St Pierre, Marie Carmelle Lafontant REGIS. Frantz Lafontant and Deborah Plungis, and Ingrid Lafontant. Her grandchildren, Ardy REGIS, Marrissa Plungis Lafontant, Christy JEAN, Gaspard JEAN, Nicolas Estinville and Spouse. Marie Claire is survived by Many brothers and Sisters and Spouses: Alourdes Janvier, Eddy Janvier & Marleine, Imelda Janvier Abelard & Gerard, Alphonse Janvier Jr. and Spouse. Reginald and Regine Janvier. Her nieces and nephews Lionel Gauvin, Linda Janvier LEON and Peter, Edna, Pascale and Wilfried, Katia Janvier and a host of nieces and nephews. Marie Claire was preceded in death by Her Husband Paul Lafontant, her parents, Alphonse Janvier & Anite Jean-Louis, and Her Siblings Edner & Wilner Janvier,

Relatives & friends are invited to attend her funeral from the Breslin Funeral Home, 610 Pleasant St., Malden on Friday February 18th at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden at 10 AM. Services will conclude with interment in Riverside Cemetery in Saugus. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Thursday February 17th from 5-7 PM. At the request of her family, masks are required for all services.
