LAVIN, Rev. John, C.Ss.R., born May 11, 1941 in Roxbury, MA, son of the late John and Agnes Lavin, John went to be with the Lord unexpectedly on February 12, 2022. John was ordained in June 1966, and from 1967 to 2021, devoted 54 years to Latin-American ministries in the United States and the Caribbean. John or Padre Juan to many who knew him is the author of Noticing Lazarus at Our Door, Reflections of a Priest With Forty Years in Hispanic Ministry. John is the brother of Arlene Lavin Morrissey, James Lavin and the late Anne Lavin Smith. He also was the much beloved uncle to Eric Smith, Jacob Lavin, Andrew Lavin, Joseph Lavin, and several great nieces and nephews. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the Basilica of Our Lady of Perpetual Help “Mission Church” 1545 Tremont St. Boston at 10 o’clock on Monday, February 21st. Visiting hours in the church, the evening before, Sunday, February 20th 7-9pm. Prayer Service at 7:30pm followed by Visitation. Relatives and friends invited.
