James Ernest “Superman” “Goat” Barnes, 63, of Omega passed away Saturday, February 12, 2022, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center in Moultrie. His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 16, 2022, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Rickey Wells officiating. Mr. Barnes will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 16, 2022, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of the service.
Mr. Barnes’ family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Born October 2, 1958, in Tifton, Mr. Barnes was the son of the late Normand Vernard Barnes and Rosa Mae Gray Barnes. Before retiring, he worked as a janitor at J. T. Reddick Middle School in Tifton. He loved being a CB operator; loved the Tift County Blue Devils; loved riding motorcycles; and he was a football fanatic. He was a member of Omega Church of God.
Mr. Barnes is survived by his wife, Donna Jean Barnes of Omega; four sons and two daughters-in-law, Steven Brian and Anne Barnes, James Anthony and Courtney Barnes, Christopher Chad Barnes and David Ray Kennedy, all of Tifton; two daughters, Karrie Elizabeth English of Norman Park and Kasey Marie Barnes of Fitzgerald; three brothers; two sisters; seventeen grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
