Obituary

Alberto Correia da Silva, 82 of Lowell, passed away on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at Northwood Health Care Center after a long illness. He was the beloved husband of Aldina de Lourdes (Picanso de Melo) da Silva with whom they shared the last 56 years of marriage.

One of seven children of the late Antonio Correia da Silva and the late Georgina Rosa (da Silva) da Silva, he was born on April 12, 1939, in Graciosa, Azores, Portugal, and was raised and educated there. He worked as a farmer in the Azores, and in January of 1979, he relocated to the United States with his family, making his home in Lowell’s Back Central Street neighborhood.

He worked at Prince Macaroni in Lowell and then worked at Interstate Container and was also a maintenance worker for a local car dealer. He was a hard worker who loved providing for his family. He loved taking care of his home and tending to his garden, especially his grape vine which he took pride in. He enjoyed attending Portuguese festivals with his wife and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a communicant of St. Anthony Church.

In addition to his loving wife, Aldina, he is survived by daughter, Debbie Silva and her partner, John Dasilva of Lowell; his son, Carlos Silva and his partner, Jessica Brito of Lowell; and his grandchildren, Jaycee da Silva of Haverhill, Blaze Silva, Aaliyah Dasilva and Liliana Dasilva, all of Lowell. He is also survived by his siblings, Maria Silva Quadros and her husband, Valentino, of Graciosa, Albino Correia Silva and his wife, Fatima of Lowell, Argentina Guichard and her husband, Brian of Chelmsford; his sister in law, Fatima Mello Silva of Lowell/Azores; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his son, the late Albino da Silva and his siblings the late Juventino Correia Silva, the late Manuel Correia Silva and his sister in law, the late Delminda Silva.

On Wednesday, February 16, 2022 all are welcome to attend his calling hours from 9-11 a.m. at the McDonough Funeral Home, 14 Highland Street, Lowell 978-458-6816.

His funeral Mass will be offered at 12 noon at St. Anthony Church, 893 Central Street, Lowell. Burial will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery.
