Robert J. Russo of East Boston passed away on February 11, 2022. He was 90 years old. Robert was the beloved husband of the late Joan G. (Connolly) Russo. Born in Boston, Robert was the cherished son of the late Rocco and Albina (Graziano) Russo.
Robert was a Korean War veteran serving in the USMC. Prior to his retirement, Robert was Massachusetts State Police Trooper. Robert enjoyed working in carpentry and painting with water colors. He loved watching the New England Sports Teams with his family. Robert always looked forward to his next tri-annual trip to Washington D.C. for his Marine Corps reunion. After retirement, Robert worked in the security industry and was one time head of security for the rock band KISS.
Robert was the devoted father of Michael C. Russo and his partner Elisabeth Axtell of East Boston. He was the dear brother of the late Eleanor Merullo, Mary Nazarro, Anna Gavegnano and Pauline M. Russo. Brother-in-law of John Domenico and the late Barbara Domenico of Winthrop.
Robert’s funeral will be from the Maurice W. Kirby Funeral Home 210 Winthrop St. Winthrop, on Tuesday, February 15, at 9AM, followed by a funeral Mass to be held in St Joseph-St. Lazarus Church 59 Ashley St. East Boston at 10AM. Relatives and friends are invited. Cremation to follow will be private. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Monday, February 14, from 4-8pm.
