Mary Ruth Tarantino (DesRoche) age 73 of Bridgewater, formerly of Brockton, passed away, surrounded by her l loved ones, on Monday, February 7, 2022, at Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital after a brief illness .
Born and raised in Brockton, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Patricia (Hallisey) DesRoche.
She worked for 30 years in various areas throughout the Department of Veterans Affairs, retiring as the secretary to the Chief of Mental Health in 2009. After retiring from the VA, she worked as a driver for VHS Transportation, up until her passing, a job she truly loved. Driving "her kids" brought her happiness and loved it.
Mary was an open and giving soul who always put others before herself. She enjoyed dining out with friends and family, she was an avid foodie, so time spent enjoying a meal with her favorite people was precious to her. Mary loved to laugh, enjoyed nature, bird watching, playing games on her computer while watching the neighborhood, spending time with family and pets, and anything involving the beach as she loved the ocean. Most of all, her family provided her the most joy and was extremely proud of her children and grandchild.
She is survived by her children, Walter M. Tarantino, of Braintree, Patricia M. Tarantino, of Bridgewater, and Anne C. Tarantino, and her wife, Tanya, of Brockton; and a grandchild , Eli Benevides, and countless cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Mary was preceded in death by all of her siblings, John Des Roche, William “Billy” Des Roche, Robert “Bobby” Des Roche, Joseph “Joe” Des Roche, and Paula Des Roche, nephew Joey DesRoche, and niece Mary DesRoche.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to visit with Mary’s family on Friday, February 18, 2022, from 3:00pm to 6:00pm, with a funeral service beginning at 6:00pm, in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte. 123) Brockton. Interment will be private.
