Jeanette Oakley, 93, of Ocilla, Georgia, died Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at Palemon Gaskins Memorial Nursing Home, in Ocilla, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Saturday, February 12, 2022, at The Paulk Funeral Home in Ocilla, Georgia with the Rev. William Pope officiating. Interment will follow in the Brushy Creek Cemetery in Irwin County, Georgia. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.
Mrs. Oakley was born November 23, 1928, in Irwin County, Georgia, to the late Hugo Handley & Pearl Ross Padgett. She taught for many years and was an educator at heart. She had a passionate love for her family and her belief in God supported her throughout her life. She attended Satilla Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Susan Oakley Luke & Joey of Ocilla; a son, William Fred Oakley, III & Linda of Jacksonville, Florida; grandchildren: Julie Oakley Hatton & Steve and William “Bill” Oakley, IV & Erica; great-grandchildren: Ethan Hatton, Brandon Hatton, Nick Hatton, Katelyn Hatton, Piper Oakley, Kinsley Oakley and Bryce Oakley ; several nephews and many great-nieces and great-nephews; a goddaughter, Dian Peterson and a godson, Jesse C. Peterson, both of Jacksonville, Florida, and her protective and loyal companion, Ginger. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Fred Oakley, Jr.; her step-father, William Robert Padgett; sister & brother-in-law, Judy & Jacob Paulk; a granddaughter, Jennifer Lynn Oakley and a great-grandson, Nathan Hatton.
