Philip Steven Satterfield (affectionately known as Phil) was born on 11/11/54 in Harlem, NY.
He was one of six children born to Laura and Willie Satterfield. Raised in New York, he graduated from Theodore Roosevelt HS and attended Boston College in Massachusetts on a Fencing and Martial Arts Scholarship. Philip worked as a DJ on his own radio show while at Boston College and remained a lover of music. Upon graduation Philip, worked in Community Development, Property Management, Human Services, and finally as a Librarian Assistant at Harvard University.
He retired from Harvard in November 2020 and loved being part of the Harvard community and proudly represented all things, Harvard. Philip had a strong interest in Genealogy and had established himself as the family historian. He spent years collecting Oral Histories and pictures of the family that he could document in books to be passed down to the younger generations. Philip made sure he always reached out to various family members, in either a birthday greeting, a gift from Harvard, or an update of the family history from his latest research.
Philip was a collector of books, music, movies, and photographs and was a true Renaissance man who pursued a wide variety of interests and loved his family. He had a great heart and his kindness touched everyone around him.
Philip is survived by his siblings William Harvey (sister-in-law Maria), Gary, Jeanne, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Philip is predeceased by his mother Laura and father Willie Satterfield, and brothers Lenoard and Richard Satterfield.
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
