David B. Murray of Medford passed away on February 6th. He was a lifelong resident of Medford in the home that his father grew up in. He leaves behind his brother Bill Murray, sister-in-law Ann Murray of Newton, MA, nieces Kara Murray (Kurt Deschermeier) and Susan Murray (Kassim Howell) all of Brooklyn, NY. He also leaves behind five grandnieces whom he took great delight in. He was pre-deceased by his parents Lillian and Bill Murray of Medford. He also leaves many cousins.
He served in the Navy. He worked for the US Postal Service in the Boston Back Bay location for 43 years, retiring in 2013. He had many good friends from his work in the USPS and from his days playing with and cheering on the Mystic River Rugby Club. He was so friendly and interested in people that he recently shared that a man he met on the bus while regularly commuting to work called to check on him several times during the last few months of David's declining health.
The family is grateful to Dr. Philip Saylor and Erika Meneely, NP, at Mass General Brigham Cancer Center for their thoughtful care of David. We also thank the Care Dimensions Hospice of Danvers and Home Instead Senior Care of Boston North for their compassionate care enabling David to continue living at home. There are so many other friends and caregivers who kept in touch, visited, brought him food, walked his beloved dog Buster and fed his cat, Kid. But Becky deserves our special thanks. She started helping him with house cleaning several years ago but became a wonderful friend and someone that he looked forward to seeing and loved very much. Thank you, Becky.

In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Animal Rescue League of Boston (www.arlboston.org) in David's memory. David found Buster at their shelter in Brewster, MA. Or consider a donation to the Pan Mass Challenge (https://www.pmc.org). This is a bike-a-thon that raises money for cancer research and care. Ann and Susan are riding in it in August as they have for many years and will ride with David in their hearts. Donate to either of their rides or just directly to PMC.
