James “Wendell” Hall, 65, of Ocilla, Georgia, died Monday, February 7, 2022, at Tift Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Thursday, February 10, 2022, at Mystic Baptist Church in Mystic, with the Rev. Joey Whitley officiating. Interment will follow in Mystic Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Wednesday evening at the funeral home in Ocilla.
Mr. Hall was born May 29, 1956, in Tifton, Georgia, to Carolyn Luke Hall and the late Joel Hubert Hall. He was a 1974 graduate of Tift County High School, then earned his degree in Fire Science. Mr. Hall retired as a Captain from the Tifton Fire Department with 36 years of service. He proudly served as a Deacon of Mystic Baptist Church. He served as Chairman of the Georgia Federation of Saddle Clubs. His first love was God, followed closely by his family, and friends. Mr. Hall was an avid hunter, fisherman, and horseman.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Renae Hickey Hall of Mystic; daughters: Melissa & Joe Starnes of Mystic, Deanna & Chris Griffin of Fitzgerald, and Nikki & Dylan Walker of Fitzgerald; grandchildren: Aaron Starnes, Christian Clark, Kylee Bryan, Beau Griffin, Caleb Walker, Pedro Martinez, Jr. & LaDasha, Elijah Martinez, Silas Martinez, and Seth Martinez; his mother, Carolyn Luke Hall of Tifton; a brother, Dale & Freida Hall of Tifton; and a sister, Carla Shoupe of Sylvester. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah Martinez.
