Obituary

SPENCER: Duane A. Day, 55, of Spencer, died Tuesday, Feb. 1st. in St. Vincent Hospital, Worcester.
He leaves his son; Duane Jr. of Oxford, his sisters Traci Schlegel and her husband Russell of Paxton and Kimberly of Wilbraham, his Aunt Sandra Papierski whom he was very close, her husband Ronald Papierski and his Uncle Francis Frigon all of Spencer, as well as several nieces and nephews. His close friends Mark, John, Mike, Tom and others who were like brothers. He is predeceased by brother Raymond and both parents. He was born in Worcester, the son of Wayne Day and Patricia (Frigon). Duane graduated from David Prouty High School in 1984. He then served his country with the U.S. Navy, where he was deployed to Saudi Arabia during the Persian Gulf War on MSO 456. He retired from Saint-Gobain Abrasives Inc. after 20 plus years of work. He was an active member of Mary, Queen of the Rosary Parish, an avid New England Sports fan and a competitive softball player and noted power hitter.
A memorial Mass will be held on Friday, Feb. 18 at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 7 Church St., Spencer. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Mary Queen of the Rosary Cemetery, Spencer. There are no calling hours. The J.HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer is directing arrangements. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to David Prouty Boosters, P.O. Box 444, Spencer, MA 01562.
