James P. O'Dwyer, 90, of Dartmouth, passed away on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at St. Luke's Hospital. He was the longtime companion of Barbara Queen.
Born in Fall River, son of the late Edward O'Dwyer, Sr. and the late Eva M. (Levesque) O'Dwyer, he had lived in Dartmouth for over 45 years. Prior to retirement, he was a compositor for the New Bedford Standard Times. Mr. O'Dwyer was a member of the Tifereth Israel Synagogue in New Bedford. He enjoyed jazz, playing the piano, was an avid reader and loved New England Sports.
Survivors include a son: Michael J. O'Dwyer and his wife Nelia of Westport; a daughter: Kathleen Coelho and her husband Antonio of Fall River; a brother: David O'Dwyer of Somerset; a sister: Doris Sunderland of Westport; 3 grandchildren: James Coelho, Jay O'Dwyer and Colleen O' Dwyer; 3 great grandchildren: Toby Coelho, Drew Coelho and Reid Coelho; and several nieces and nephews.
He was father of the late Colleen A. (O'Dwyer) Harrington, great grandfather of the late Lena Beth Coelho and brother of the late Arthur O'Dwyer, Edward O'Dwyer, Jr., John O'Dwyer and Irene Leary.
Graveside service to which relatives and friends are invited will be Friday, February 11, 2022 at the Jewish Cemetery of New Bedford, Old Plainville Rd., New Bedford at 1:00 P.M.
