Eileen P. (Shea) Trainor, 95, of Franklin, died Sunday, February 6, 2022 at the Milford Regional Medical Center. She was the beloved wife of William H. Trainor who died in 2002.
Born in Springfield on April 4, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Beatrice (Milmore) Shea.
Eileen was a resident of Franklin since 2016 and had formerly resided in Boynton Beach, FL for 25 years and Melrose, MA for 30 years.
She graduated from the former St. John’s Hospital School of Nursing in Lowell and worked as a registered nurse for many years until her retirement.
Eileen was a volunteer for the National Alliance on Mental Illness for 17 years and had also served as NAMI’s president. She was also very active in the Catholic Nurses Association, Catholic Charities, and Mother Cabrini. In her early years, she volunteered for the Medical Missionaries of Mary in Winchester.
She is survived by her children, William Trainor of Hardwick, VT, Rosemary Trainor of Wakefield, James Trainor of Auburn, NH, Matthew Trainor of Stoneham, Eileen Neubert of Franklin, Kathleen Baradaran of Franklin and Carol Alessandro of Tewksbury.
She is also survived by nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, her siblings William Shea and Beatrice Ferry, both formerly of Meriden, CT and many nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Marie Conklin and Claire Garvey.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a calling hour on Thursday, February 10 from 11:00 – 11:45 a.m. in the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin, 131 Main Street (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) followed by a funeral Mass at Noon at St. Mary’s Church in Franklin.
Facemasks are required in the funeral home and in St. Mary’s Church.
