Alice passed away in her home, surrounded by her family, after a brief illness. She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many. She will always be remembered as an exceptional cook, singer and avid reader.
Alice was born in Boston, grew up in Braintree, and graduated from Braintree High School in 1950. She married Vincent Pizzano in 1955. They lived in Weymouth, MA until 1998. They then moved to New Port Richey, FL where they flourished in the warmth and sunshine. They returned to New England in 2018 and lived with their daughter Marie (“Lainee”) and her husband George.
Alice was a loving wife of 66 years to her husband and an amazing mother to her three children, Vincent and his wife Patricia of Hanson, MA, Lainee Trudel and her husband George of Derry, NH, and Laurie Pizzano and her wife Lori of St. Petersburg, FL. She also leaves behind her granddaughters Melissa Samaro and her husband Joe and Stephanie Vita and her husband Vincent plus her step-granddaughters Margaret Mason and Rosemary Trudel. She also leaves behind her sisters Lynn Gately and Ruth Sylvester, her brother Doctor Peter Sylvester, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her mother and father, Helen and Frank Sylvester, and her sisters, Rita Davis and Barbara Hauber.
In addition to her family, one of Alice’s greatest joys was cooking. She owned thousands of cookbooks. She shared her culinary talent with many students over the years. She taught Cooking with Love at Braintree High School and made unique, fun recipes that she shared with her students, friends and family.
Alice loved to sing and spent many years performing with the Quincy Chapter of the Sweet Adelines. She also enjoyed camping. She and her husband visited 49 states in their motor coach. She made friends everywhere they went. Alice’s favorite state was Alaska and she often talked about its beauty, animals and glaciers.
Following cremation, a Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Thursday, February 10, 2022 at 11:00am in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 26 Crystal Ave, Derry. A luncheon followed in the church hall. Private interment will in the NH State Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen, NH.
