Marilyn J. (Arvidson) Hogan, 76, of Miami and Worcester passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 23, 2022, after a period of declining health.
Marilyn was born and raised in Worcester, daughter of the late Alfred R. and S. Olivia Arvidson. She graduated from North High School and lived in Massachusetts until she retired from Paul Revere Insurance (UNUM) and fulfilled her dream to move south and live near the beach.
She is survived by her devoted husband Chris and stepson Philip and his family; brother Robert Arvidson of Worcester; her daughters Michele Couture, and son-in-law Robert of Worcester, and their children Justin, Amanda and her fiancé Josh Terceira; her daughter Traci Novak, son-in-law Michael of Charlton, and their children Sydni, Greta, and Zeno; her daughter Katrina Townsend of West Brookfield, and her children Bethany, Kayla, and Dylan; several great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She is pre-deceased by her daughter Jenna and her sister-in-law Mary (Welch) Arvidson who was like a sister to her.
Marilyn was a foster mother for many years through Catholic Charities of Worcester and cared for at-risk babies and young children until they were adopted or reunited with family.
Along with her husband Chris, Marilyn was an active member of the Aeromodelers of Perrine (amps-rc.org) and enjoyed the beach, deep sea fishing, and trips to Key West. Marilyn was an incredibly creative person and during her life was a seamstress, hairdresser, baker, gardener, oil painter, worked with stained glass, and crocheted for everyone. Most recently, she made blankets for all her daughters and grandchildren. She is deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
There are no calling hours and burial will be private. Memorial contributions in memory of Marilyn may be made to Catholic Charities Worcester County 10 Hammond St., Worcester, MA 01610; or Worcester Animal Rescue League 139 Holden St., Worcester, MA 01606.
