Obituary

Arnold G. Choate, 90, of Medway, died Saturday, January 29, 2022, at the Milford Regional Medical Center. He was the husband of Phyllis J. (Gunn) Choate who died in 2020.

Born in Framingham on January 13, 1932, he was the son of the late Arthur G. and Esther L. (Winslow) Choate.

Arnold was a resident Medway for most of his life until moving to Uxbridge 18 years ago. He graduated from Medway High School in 1946 and earned his bachelor’s degree from UMass Amherst in 1950.

Arnold proudly served in the Army during the Korea War.

Before his retirement he worked for the Welfare Department in Medway for many years. He also served on the Medway Fire Department for 28 years and the Medway Police Department during the late 1950’s and early 1960’s.

He is survived by three stepchildren, Richard E. Goodspeed and his wife Cheryl of Medway, Jane E. Tesson of Wellfleet and Anne V. Cady of North Attleboro, a sister Marilyn Sotona of Covington, Georgia and many nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late Richard, Carlton, and Herbert Choate.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a calling hour on Saturday, February 12 from 10 - 11 a.m. in the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St. in Medway (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Medway.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Arnold’s memory to the First Congregational Church, P.O. Box 152, Uxbridge, MA 01569.
