Jaime Cardoso deSousa, 95, of New Bedford passed away Wednesday February 2, 2022. He was the husband of Rosalina (Costa) DeSousa; they had been married for 70 years.
Born in Nabais, Portugal, the son of the late Antonio and Maria (deJesus) deSousa, he resided in New Bedford since 1967.
He was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.
Jaime was formerly employed as a hard-working carpenter for many years until his retirement.
He enjoyed gardening in this yard and walking his dogs. He also loved watching soccer, especially his favorite team Sporting Clube de Portugal.
He is survived by his wife, Rosalina; his four children, John Sousa, Maria Helena Santos, Cesar Sousa, and Antonio Sousa and his wife Kathleen; five grandchildren, Stephanie Gomes and her husband Garrett, Randy Santos and his wife Stephanie, Shawn Santos, Jaime Sousa, and Hannah Sousa; a great-grandson, Kingston Gomes; and many nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Agostinho deSousa, Fernando deSousa, Avelino deSousa, Luis Cardoso, Saudade deSousa, Albano deSousa, and Antonio deSousa.
His Funeral will be held on Wednesday February 9, 2022 at 11 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by his Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 12 Noon.
