Antonio Casimiro passed away peacefully with his daughter Joanne by his side in his forever home near Fort Rodman, New Bedford for which he loved so much, on January 16, 2022, three weeks before his 84th birthday.
A humble renaissance man and genius would be an appropriate description. Tony was incredibly intelligent and a scholar of many topics. Certainly, ahead of his time in the search for the deeper meaning of wisdom and of all things. He was an avid reader and had a true passion for classical music. That was Tony, sitting at home reading the most recent controversial book while listening to his classics with a glass of wine by his side. Tony was a Teacher and a Mentor for many who knew him. A true visionary who inspired and advised many to succeed in their endeavors. Tony loved theater, ballet, the arts and enjoyed going to local concerts and symphonies. One of Tony's greatest passions was to visit his homeland Vila Franco do Campo, in Saint Michael Azores. Here at a young age before immigrating to America; Tony established himself as the youngest educator to teach in Vila Franca, an accomplishment that still stands and is admired by many. His humble accomplishments will never be forgotten by the people he touched, especially his daughter Joanne and grandson Andrew.
In remembrance of him, buy a book and have a youngster read it out LOUD. He believed reading out loud inspired optimal learning.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at 1 PM in his home at 72 Hudson St., New Bedford.
