Obituary

Alfred H. Elliott, 87, long-time resident of Londonderry, NH, passed peacefully with his family, Thursday, February 3, 2022, in the Elliot Hospital, Manchester, NH. He was born in Phillipsburg Quebec, Canada on February 27, 1934. Alfred, more fondly known as Al, Uncle Al, Big Al, “the Canuck”, became an American Citizen after he proudly served this country as a forward observer in the U.S. Army, 7th Infantry during the Korean War. He retired from the Teamsters union, Local #633, after over 30 years driving oil tankers and tractor trailers. He also retired from the Derry School system after 10 years maintaining school buildings, equipment, and their grounds. Al was a lifetime member of the VFW and Halcyon Club of Derry, NH. He enjoyed any machine with a motor, especially his truck and camper or motor home traveling with his family. In his younger days he enjoyed racing cars and water skiing with his boat. He was an avid mechanic who loved his garage. Al loved spending time in his garage working on cars, motorcycles, lawn mowers, etc. or spending time with family and friends there. He enjoyed watching sports, especially the Bruins, Red Sox and wrestling with his family and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents Henry Elliott of Alberg Springs, VT and Gladys Provencher of Derry, as well as his half-brothers Donald Elliott of Swanton, VT and Leonard Elliott of Highgate, VT.

He is survived by his wife, of 61 year, Pauline (Misiaszek) Elliott of Londonderry; his daughters, Jane Elliott of Andover, MA and Linda Elliott of Bedford, NH, his son in-laws, Stuart McDowell of Andover, MA and John Argeropolous of Bedford, NH; his treasured granddaughters, Emily McDowell, Lauren McDowell, and Kyra Argeropolous; his sisters, Gloria Gutwein of Edison, NJ, Shirley Pochick of Staunton, VA, and Gilda Pinedo of Laguna Niguel, CA; his step sister, Judy Rochleau of Highgate, VT, his half-brothers, Randall Elliott of Londonderry, NH, Craig Elliott of Sheldon, VT, Raleigh Elliott of Swanton, VT and John Elliott of Highgate, VT as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Following cremation, calling hours will be held on Wednesday, February 16th from 5 pm to 7 pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 15 Birch St. Derry, NH. Memorial services will follow at 7 pm in the funeral home. A military service and burial will be held on Thursday, February 17th, 12:00 pm, at the NH State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Hwy., Boscawen, NH.
