Patricia M. Ferreira, 85, of New Bedford, passed away peacefully at the Alden Court Rehabilitation on February 2, 2022.
Born in New Bedford on October 7, 1936 she was a lifelong resident of the City. Patricia was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Correia) Ferreira and was a graduate of New Bedford High School class of 1954. Patricia was formerly employed by GMAC Boston for 39 years, rising to the position as the first female Branch Manager serving several area districts throughout Massachusetts.
Patricia loved to travel having visited Portugal, Italy and the Caribbean Islands and enjoyed cruising. She also enjoyed visits to the various casinos. She was a very devout Catholic and devoted much time to the everlasting ministry of her church. Because of her tireless work efforts to her church, St. John The Baptist, she was awarded the Diocese of Fall River Marian Medal. She was active as a Board Member of the Mary Mother of Jesus Ministry, serving as Treasurer and also conducted weekly prayer services for more than 30 years at the St. John and Our Lady of Mount Carmel churches.
She was an outstanding Sister, Aunt and Godmother. Her smile encompassed the fond relationships she had with her lifelong friends, Pauline Forand and Mary Mello and her devoted cousin Kathleen Caucci who was a caregiver, and provided the help to allow Patricia to live at home until the last month.
Patricia was predeceased by her parents, her brother Lawrence A. Ferreira, her sisters-in-law, Elaine (Costa) Ferreira and Fern (Lipsett) Ferreira, and her niece's husband, Jeffrey Lawrence.
Patricia is survived by her brother, Anthony Ferreira and his wife Janice of New Bedford; nieces and nephew, Elizabeth Forgue and her husband Kevin of Rochester, Mark Ferreira and his wife Karen of New Bedford, Anne Lawrence of New Bedford and Christine Pedersen and her husband Timothy of Fairhaven, all of whom with she shared her love. She also leaves many other cousins, great-nieces and nephews and friends.
Her Funeral will be held on Wednesday, February 9th at 9:30 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by her Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 AM.
