Obituary

Leonard Joseph ‘Len’ Errera, 75, of Tewksbury, passed away Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at Kaplan Family Hospice House after a long illness. He was the beloved husband of Gail (Bourgeois) Errera, with whom he had celebrated their twenty fifth wedding anniversary in October 2021.

Len was a son of the late John V. and the late Josephine (LaBella) Errera, and the brother of the late Marianne Errera. He was born on July 20, 1946 and grew up in Medford and Tewksbury, receiving his education in the Tewksbury School System. After graduating from Wentworth College, he worked as an environmental engineer for TRC and ERT before becoming the owner and operator of Professional Carpet Systems in Tewksbury.

Len loved golf and played whenever and wherever he could. An avid sports fan, he religiously followed the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox. He was a softball umpire and basketball referee for many years. He also enjoyed working around the house, gardening, and helping neighbors with home projects. He loved to cook, especial Italian food, and enjoyed his membership in the Sons of Italy, where he made many longtime friends.

In addition to his wife, Gail, he is survived by his children, Leonard Errera, Jr., and his wife, Joanne, of Newington, CT, and Kathy Sturgess of Winter Garden, Florida; his grandchildren, Ethan Errera and Andrew Errera, his step-grandchildren Samantha DiLorenzo and Jayson Kuhnly; his brother, John Errera and his partner, Carmen Ruiz, of Hollywood, FL; his brothers-in-law, Dana Bourgeois and his wife, Martha Green of Brunswick, ME, and Donald Bourgeois of Portland, ME; his dear friend Terri Hunt of Redondo Beach, CA; several cousins, including Charles Labella, Joe Labella and Arlene O’Connor as well as his many, many good friends. He will be dearly missed by his beloved dog, Sadie.

You are invited to his funeral mass on Monday, February 7, at 11:30 at St. Williams Church, 1351 Main Street, Tewksbury. A private burial will take place at St. Mary Cemetery, Tewksbury.
