Obituary

Mary "Re Re" (McManus) Sullivan of Roslindale, passed away on Wednesday February 2, 2022 peacefully at Sophia Snow Place in West Roxbury. She was born on February 12,1932 to the late Thomas J and Margaret M McManus. She is the beloved wife of the late Deacon Paul A. Sullivan. Loving mother of Margaret M Keenan and her husband David, John R Sullivan and his wife Susan, Thomas N Sullivan and Stefanie Ellison, Mary Ellen Matthews and her husband Michael, and Paul A. Sullivan and his wife Nicola. Devoted grandmother of Joseph Keenan and his wife Raina, Paul Keenan and his wife Melissa, Elizabeth Kryla and her husband Pawel, Brian Sullivan and his wife Caitlin, Stephen Sullivan and his wife Kelli, Colleen Sullivan, Elaine Perry and her husband Jim, Michael Matthews and his wife Amy, and Emily Matthews. Adoring great grandmother of Greyson, Delaney, Madison, Nicholas, Kennedy, Emeline, Charlotte, Aiden, Connor, Eddie and Lucas. Mary is the loving sister of Patricia Connors, Thomas, Francis, William, and Joseph McManus all who preceded her in death. Mary devoted her life to her family. She worked at Stop & Shop in Roslindale at the Deli for 25 years. Everyone loved her sandwiches and her great slicing skills. Everyone also enjoyed her sense of humor. She was an active member of Sacred Heart Parish all her life. She lived in her house on Navarre Street for 85 years. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Bowling League, Heart Beats Newspaper, Ladies Sodality, League of Catholic Women, and was a lector at church. She loved performing in the variety shows at Sacred Heart and St Peter's Parish. She loved going to bingo and playing poker with her friends. Her late friend Josephine Germano was so good to her. They were Tuesday shopping buddies for so many years. She was an avid reader, then loved listening to books on tape provided by the Carroll School for the blind. Our Family is most grateful to the loving, compassionate, and caring staff members at Sophia Snow Place, who cared for our mother for the past 3 years. They went above and beyond to provide her with a wonderful quality of life.
Relatives & friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be Monday February 7, 2022 from 3pm to 7pm at the Joseph Russo Funeral Home located at 814 American Legion Highway Roslindale, Mass. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday February 8, 2022 at 11:30 am at Sacred Heart church Roslindale located at 169 Cummings Highway. Burial will be Immediately following at Mt Calvary Cemetery.Roslindale In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Red Cross in memory of Mary E Sullivan. 101 Station Landing, Suite 510 Medford Mass 02155 or can be made at www.redcross.org.
