Alfred D. McCassie, Sr., 78, of Millis, died Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at the Milford Regional Medical Center. He was the beloved husband of Florence L. (Ribotto) McCassie for over 60 years. His love and commitment to her knew no bounds.
Born in Erving, Massachusetts on February 7, 1943, he was the son of the late Elbert W. and Lena M. (Aucoin) McCassie.
Al was a resident of Millis for the past 8 years. Before that, he resided in Medway for over 40 years after growing up in Natick.
He spent his life giving generously of himself to others. In his younger years he loved to go on motorcycle trips with his wife Florence, as they were members of the Road Runners. His greatest joys were found from the love and laughter of his friends and family. He had a love for watching the old Western movies and was known to shed a tear at the happy endings of a Hallmark movie.
He was the owner of F & C Fence Company in Medway and worked as a foreman at Baker Fence Co. in Southborough for many years before retiring.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughter Cheryl Corman and her husband George of Millis, his daughter-in-law Terry McCassie of Northborough, his granddaughters Cheyenne McCassie of Northborough and Sheena Sawyer of Sterling and numerous nieces and nephews who fondly knew him as the fun-loving “Uncle Al”.
He was the devoted father of the late Alfred, Jr. and Julia Gross and the brother of the late Donald and Russell McCassie.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a calling hour on Saturday, February 5 from 11 a.m. - Noon in the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St. in Medway (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) followed by a funeral service at Noon. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Medway.
