Virginia M. (Rose) Bento, 61, of New Bedford passed away Sunday January 23, 2022. She was the wife of Durval M. Bento.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Manuel and Aldora (Correia) Rose, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.
Virginia was formerly employed as director of the Center for Health and Human Services in New Bedford.
Virginia was a loving and caring mother to her three children and an amazing wife to her husband. She took pride in her family and enjoyed spending endless moments with them hosting every holiday and birthday. Virginia was always the life of the party. She loved running into old friends and sharing memories that will last a lifetime. She was a genuine person with a heart of gold who had helped so many. She holds a special place in all the hearts that she has touched, and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband, Durval; three children, John M. Rose and his companion Heather Cabral, Athena T. Bento and her companion, Laryssa Goncalves, and Trina A. Smith and her companion, Adam LaPlante; her sister, Shirley Torres; three granddaughters, Aliyah Cabral, Haily Cabral, and Jaleeya Delgado; two great-grandchildren, Bentley DaCosta and Ariella DaCosta; and nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Rachel Smith and MaryAnn Cabral.
