Joseph A. DuBois, age 74, of Avon passed away January 30th. Joseph was born on August 21st 1947 to Mary and Armand DuBois. He grew up in Boston and Dedham, MA and graduated from Dedham High School in 1965. Joesph attended one year of college before being drafted into the United States Armed Forces, where he served in the United States and Korea during the Vietnam war until 1969. Upon being honorably discharged from the Army, Joseph joined the Laborers Union where he worked on various Boston construction projects. He later joined the Painters and Allied Trade Union D.C. #35, and had a successful career as a paperhanger until he retired at the age of 60. Joe was a proud veteran and member of the VFW Post #8892 in Avon for many years. He loved spending time at his home in Naples FL, fishing on his boat with his friends and family and cooking up a storm for large family holiday parties. Joe had a quick wit and was known to be the life of the party. He will be missed by all that loved him.
Joseph is survived by his son Marc J. DuBois and his wife Cindy of Lakeville, daughter Natalie A. McManus of Charlestown, twin sister Jeanne Leydon of Bridgewater, sister Virginia Corcoran of E. Walpole, and former wife and mother of his children, Deborah DuBois (Nunes) of Naples, FL. He is predeceased by his parents, Armand and Mary DuBois. Relatives and friends invited to attend a funeral service at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home 455 Washington St. Canton , February 8th at 11:00 am. Visiting hour prior to the service Tuesday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 am. Burial VA National Cemetery, Bourne Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 pm.
