Carol Beatrice (Veer) VerCammen, 75, of New Bedford died suddenly at home on Friday January 28, 2022 in the arms of her loving husband.
Carol is survived by her husband, Kenneth VerCammen, her two children, Colleen Chiron and her husband Jean-Pierre Chiron and Kenneth VerCammen, Jr., her two grandsons, Benjamin and Maxwell Chiron, her sister Kathleen Mendes, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Margaret and Alfred Veer.
Carol was born on December 20, 1946, in New Bedford MA where she remained a lifelong resident. She graduated from Holy Family High School and attended Southeastern Massachusetts University. She owned and managed the General Store in New Bedford and then in later years worked as a billing supervisor at Taunton State Hospital until her retirement. She was a Girl Scout leader for many years and was an active member of Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church.
She was happiest when she was surrounded by her family and friends especially her grandsons who were the light of her life. She loved arts and crafts, was an avid reader and loved to host family get togethers. She enjoyed genealogy and was always proud of her Irish heritage. Her husband was the love of her life.
Her Funeral will be held on Friday February 4th at 8 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by her Funeral Mass at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church at 9 AM.
