Frank "Kip" Ferreira, Jr., 74, of New Bedford died Sunday, January 30, 2022 at St. Luke's Hospital. He was born to the late Frank Ferreira, Sr. and Amelia "Che Che" Ferreira in Newport, RI on September 25, 1947. Frank graduated from Rogers High School in 1965 and shortly after joined the Army. He served in Vietnam until 1970 and ended his military career as an Army Specialist (E-4). He worked for General Dynamics-Electric Boat for over 30 years.
Kip was known for his wicked sense of humor, wit and many considered him to be a professional "crap" talker. In his younger years, he was an avid athlete. He enjoyed any reason to celebrate and gather with loved ones as well as travel and golf trips with his buddies. He was an active member of the Elks and other local organizations, through which he was involved in toy drives as well as other community contributions. He was predeceased by his fiancée Diane Silva-Tavares, the love of his life, with whom he spent many wonderful years.
He is survived by his children, Derek Ferreira, Stephanie (Kristina) Gendron, and Stacey (Annie) Ferreira; his sister, Nancy Ferreira; and his nephew, Matthew Young. His presence will be missed but felt for years to come through those that loved him most.
His visitation will be held Saturday, February 5, 2022 from 1-4 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. In lieu of flowers, donations in Kip's memory may be made to the Veterans Transition House, 1297 Purchase St., New Bedford, MA 02740. For directions and guestbook, visit www.saundersdwyer.com.
