Gary Philip Curran, 69, of Sandown, NH, died unexpectedly Sunday January 30, 2022 in the Parkland Medical Center, Derry, NH. He was born on December 4, 1952 in Schenectady, NY, a son of the late Philip and Beatrice (LaCombe) Curran. Gary attended school in Windham, NH, prior to graduating from Pinkerton Academy, Derry, Class of 1971. He proudly served his country in the US Navy during the Vietnam conflict. Gary was currently employed as a welder for Novia Associates, Salem, NH. He enjoyed reading books about history, every Harry Potter Book at least twice and more recently the “classics” Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and Uncle Tom's Cabin. Gary also enjoyed a good game of 45’s and chess, but especially the spirited matches of cribbage with his brother-in-law Dave. He liked to work around the house, tinker in the garage and took great pride in keeping his lawn and property well kept. Gary was his son’s biggest fan at every sport they participated in, helping to coach baseball teams and at every wrestling match throughout their Middle and High School years.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Gail (Proulx) Curran of Sandown; two sons, Geoffrey P. Curran and wife Aubrey of Navarre, FL, and Ross C. Curran and wife Beth of Derry; four grandchildren, Tyler, Wesley, Kenadie and Bailey; four sisters, Sharon Rogers and husband Dennis of Windham, Dawn Harnedy of Derry, Patti Sherman and husband Roger of Tewksbury, MA, and Moira Alix and husband Alfred of Windham; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours were be held on Thursday, February 3rd from 5 – 7pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch Street, Derry with cremation afterward. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516 or to the charity of one’s choice.
