Vera Lorrene (Simmons) Richardson, 95, of Chesterfield, died January 29, 2022 at Millers Merry Manor in Chesterfield.
Vera was born March 11, 1926 in Moreland, the daughter of Everett and Mary (Humbles) Simmons. She lived on the farm in Middletown and attended Middletown High School where she met her husband, Robert W. Richardson. They married June 3, 1943 and he passed away May 29, 1985. After World War II, they moved to Anderson. She was a life long member of the Anderson Church of the Brethren and was very active in the Deacon Commission, where she was involved with the church congregation and ministering and helping members of the congregational family. She touched the lives of so many people. For many years she was the head of the prayer chain and kept all the members aware of all the prayer needs of the congregational family and arranged for Greeters for Sunday morning services to greet members and friends when they arrived for the church services. She was an avid golfer and enjoyed fishing in Northern Wisconsin and visiting Florida. She enjoyed playing cards with friends; gardening and was an excellent seamstress. She raised beautiful flowers and made clothes for both her daughters and granddaughter, Jennifer when she was a little girl. After losing her loving husband, she devoted her life to caring for her family and to all her friends by showing care, compassion and love every day to all those around her. Her passion in life was to all those around her, be it family, friends or neighbors.
She was a loving, caring and compassionate wife, mother, grandmother and friend. We are all so blessed that God put her into our lives and that we had her in our lives for all the years we did.
The family wishes to thank all the employees at Miller's Merry Manor in Chesterfield who cared for her so very graciously and lovingly during the time she was there.
Vera is survived by her two daughters, Claudia (Larry) Abshire and Connie (Tom) Evans; four grandchildren, Jennifer Sargent, Andrew (Cindy) Evans, Jason (Huda) Abshire and Jeffrey (Lyndsey) Abshire; ten great-grandchildren, Grayson Sargent, Emerson Sargent, Alex Evans, Jack Evans, Layla Abshire, Adam Abshire, Lina Abshire, Amir Abshire, Gage Abshire and Cole Abshire.
