Obituary

Anita M. Doucette, 91, of Whitman, MA died on January 29 after a long illness.

Born in Arlington, MA in 1930, she was the daughter of the late Evelyn and Alfred LaPorte.

She was a 1947 graduate of Notre Dame De Pitié High School, Cambridge, MA and worked for New England Telephone and Telegraph until 1957 and then was a homemaker and loving mother to four sons, Vincent and his wife Kathy of East Bridgewater, Stephen and his wife Shelley of Charlton, Kenneth and his wife Maria of Medford, and John and his wife Michelle of Hanson.

She was the wife of the late Gordon “Duke” Doucette for 51 years and sister to Joseph LaPorte of North Reading. She will also be missed by her 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

She was a long-time communicant of Holy Ghost Parish in Whitman and a long-time patron of the Knights of Columbus bingo night and was affectionately referred to as the “Queen of Bingo”.

Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate her life at visiting hours on Thursday February 3 from 4:00-8:00 pm in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman and her funeral service on Friday February 4 at 9:45 am from the Chapel, followed by a funeral Mass at 10:30 AM in the Holy Ghost Church, Whitman.
