Obituary

Katherine Margaret [Gavin] Perry passed away November 23, 2021 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton. She was 85.

Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Katherine (Kay) Jerome and Patrick Gavin. When the family decided to move from Boston to Kay's hometown of Provincetown, it was on St. Patrick's Day. Boston’s St. Patrick's Day parade was marching down their street at the time. She thought that the parade was a celebration of her moving from Boston, and not of St. Patrick’s Day itself. Kay never lost that naive sense of humor.

Later in Kay’s young life, attending the Governor Bradford School, at 8 years-old, she met the love of her life, Bobby Perry, he was 9 years-old. One day, she told Bobby that she was going to marry him, he thought that was disgusting. As years progressed, so did their relationship. They eventually married.
They had their first son, Robert K. Perry Jr, another son, Bryan Lee Perry, and then a daughter, Kathryn Mari Suzanne Perry. As years went on, they all had so much fun, and so much love for one another. Throughout both good and bad times, Kay maintained her love, support of family and a sense of humor.

Kay worked hard through difficult times to support her family. It was in 1984 that Kay took a job at the Cape End Manor. This changed her life in the best ways possible. She worked as a laundress, up to when her husband passed away in 1985. She then went on to become a CNA, and this is where her passion for helping others bloomed! It became more than just a job; it became her true passion. She not only was a CNA, but she would often listen to her clients worries, their stories, she was the shoulder they could cry on when needed, and she was there a lot of times to help them at the end of their life, to move over to the other side.

In between her job, she would often volunteer with the COA, whether it was helping them out with day trips or most often she would cook up a batch or two or even three of baked goods for their bake sales.
But most of all, she loved people and helping people whenever she could, even if you just needed to be heard, she was the ear that always listened. And making people laugh, just came naturally to her and she had a great passion for that too. Always with a smile on her face, wearing her signature red lipstick!
She was not only a nice and beautiful woman, she was a wonderful mother

She is survived by her son, Robert K. Perry Jr. of North Truro, and a daughter Kathryn S. Perry of Provincetown. She also has other family and friends who reside in Massachusetts as well as all over the United States. Her husband Robert and son, Bryan predeceased her.

A Service and Burial is being planned for the spring, at a date and time to be announced.
