Obituary

Hiram - William R. Fyler, Sr. "Mike”, 78, of Hiram went to be free of dementia and into the loving arms of his Savior on January 21, 2022. Mike was surrounded by his loving family and when his journey on earth ended his late daughter-in-law Susie was surely waiting there to take him home. Mike fought dementia for years and during that time his loving wife Katherine was his rock. They were two peas in the same pod and the recognition never left his eyes for his family.

Mike was the son of the late William E. and Anne Fyler of Charlestown, Mass. Mike grew up in Charlestown and attended local schools. Mike learned at a young age how to provide for a family as he did whatever he could to help support parents and siblings. Mike was a finished carpenter by trade and worked his whole life for the MBTA.

Mike met his loving wife on a train one day while headed home. He would then show up early and stay late just to see the girl of his dreams which he later married on a November day and had an amazing 51 years of marriage. Mike and Kathy had the special bond we all would wish for. “Mike was my everything. My best friend, soulmate, carpenter, electrician, plumber, and most of all he was mine and I was his.”

Mike had two children, William (Bill) and Tiffany, who were his pride and joy. He was known by Papa to his grandchildren Zack, Dylan and Bj. These three boys could do no wrong and his memory will be carried on by them all. Mike had a passion for wood working and spent hours passing on that knowledge to his kids and grandchildren although we all really stunk at it.

Mike was predeceased by his loving daughter-in-law Susie, brother Raymond and sister Nancy. Mike is survived by wife Katherine, son Bill, grandchildren Dylan and papa’s buddy Bj, daughter Tiffany, grandson Zachary and fiancé Cassie, sister Paula and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will take place in the spring.
