Gerald E. Fecteau
1935 – 2022
CHICOPEE – Gerald E. “Jerry” Fecteau, 86, of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Thursday, January 27, 2022. He passed into Eternal Life at the Mont Marie Health Care Center in Holyoke surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Holyoke on March 10, 1935, a beloved son of the late Blanche Fecteau. He was raised in Holyoke, graduated from Holyoke High School and attended Holyoke Community College, the University of Massachusetts in Amherst and Western New England College in Springfield. He served his country in the United States Army and attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was previously employed for Tighe and Bond Consulting Engineers, Inc. of Holyoke, now of Westfield, where he was the Chief Surveyor from 1955 to 1986 with his major responsibilities including design and construction of engineering projects and the surveying of property, dams, railroads, streets, street sewers, water mains, water tanks, treatment plants, industrial parks, shopping centers and flood plains. He also served as a Junior Civil Engineer for the Town of West Springfield from 1986 to 1988, working on the design and layout of sanitary and storm sewers, roads, sidewalks and new subdivisions. From 1988 to 1997, he worked as the Town Engineer for the Town of South Hadley. He also served as the Sewer Commissioner for the City of Chicopee for many years and worked on the engineering and survey work for the sewer plants in Chicopee, Hadley, South Hadley, Holyoke, and Springfield. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and his many friends. He leaves his beloved wife and soul mate, Jean P. (Camilloni) Fecteau. They were married on December 28, 1957 at the former Sacred Heart Church in Holyoke and were blessed with over 64 years of happiness together. He also leaves his two loving children, Lynn Anne LaCross and her husband, Vincent G. LaCross, of Palmer and Keith E. Fecteau and his wife, Nitaya, of Hudson, WI; his former daughter-in-law, Antoinette Fecteau of Franklin, MA; his six cherished grandchildren, Melanie Bedard and her husband, Kyle, of West Warren, Melissa Fecteau and her partner, Ryan, of Springfield, Vincent R. LaCross and his partner, Jessica, of Belchertown, Joshua Fecteau and his wife, Janelle, of Escondido, CA, Nicole Sylvester and her husband, Scott, of Sudbury, MA and Samantha Fecteau and her fiancé, Sebastien, of Paris, France; his five cherished great grandchildren, Dominic, Natalie, Charlie, Zoe and Jaxon; his dear sister, Sandra Cousineau of South Hadley; his dear half sister, Pamela Witaszek of Ludlow; his cherished nephew, Kevin Cousineau and his wife, Shannon; his cherished niece, Deborah Cousineau; and his many dear cousins, numerous friends and extended family members. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his beloved son, Anthony J. Fecteau who was Called Home on October 10, 2006. His Committal Service with United States Army Military Honors will be private at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001. There are no visiting hours. His funeral arrangements are entrusted to the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
