Dorothy (Burdick) Schatz 1929 - 2022 OSTERVILLE
Dorothy (Burdick) Schatz, a resident of Osterville, died at home unexpectedly on January 20, 2022. Born in Dorchester, the daughter of the late Arthur Burdick and the late Emily Louise (Freethy) Burdick, she leaves her husband of 70 years, Ernest Schatz, three children, Richard Schatz, of Osterville, Susan (Schatz) Hurley and her husband Steven of Marion, and Stephen Schatz of Waltham. She was the sister of the late David Burdick. She is also survived by her sister Virginia Bambrick, of Saratoga, CA, grandchildren Jennifer (Hurley) Barnett, Peter Hurley, Elisabeth (Hurley) Baker, Andrew Schatz, Benjamin Schatz, and great-grandchildren Max, Kendall, Colin, and Hayden.
Dorothy was a graduate of Milton High School and graduated from the New England Baptist School of Nursing in 1950. Dorothy went on to receive her nurse practitioner degree from Boston University, wherein she continued to work at the Bedford VA Hospital until her retirement in 1987.
Dorothy was formerly involved in many organizations including the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Mayflower Society, and the Cape Cod Glass Club. Additionally, she was a member of the altar guild at St. Peter's Episcopal Church.
A loving wife, mother, and devoted grand/great-grandmother, her beautiful smile and spirit will truly be missed by her husband, immediate and extended family, and all those who knew her. In the company of close family and friends, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in May 2022 at the Memorial Garden at St. Peter's Church. Donations in memory of Dorothy may be made to St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Osterville.
