LIMINGTON – Raymond Edward Pulsifer, age 72, passed away on January
24th, 2022 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough, ME, with his
loving family by his side after a courageous battle with underlying heart
conditions.
Raymond was born in Saco, ME, on November 18th, 1949, a son of the late
Reginald and Elinor Pulsifer. After graduating from Bonny Eagle High School, he
went on to help his father with various town services including lawn care, bus
driving for MSAD 6, plowing and sanding, and garbage removal. At the age of 19,
Raymond enlisted into the United States Army where he served in the Vietnam War
from 1969 to 1972. Upon returning home from the war, Raymond had a long-haul
trucking career. He drove for Merrill Transport for 15 years, and for CE Bouchey
and Sons for 13 years delivering Hood milk throughout Maine and New
Hampshire. In addition, Raymond had the honor of hauling the Vietnam war
memorial to the Augusta State House. After his trucking career, Raymond spent
seven years driving a school bus for MSAD 57, Massabesic. Then in 1997,
Raymond opened Can-Do Driving School, which expanded into 9 locations across
Maine. He owned and operated the schools with his wife, Sally, for 24 years until
retirement when his daughter, Shelly, took over ownership.
Raymond enjoyed going to parades and fairs with his children, building and
remodeling antique vehicles, watching NASCAR, spending time with his
grandchildren racing Soap Box Derby cars, vacationing in Florida with his wife,
and camping. He also enjoyed spending time at home with his cat, “Ed,” and his
two dogs, “Bella” and “Beanie.”
Raymond is predeceased by his father, Reginald Pulsifer, and his mother,
Elinor Pulsifer. He is survived by his wife, Sally Pulsifer, his children, Tarrean
Libby and her husband David of Cape Coral, FL, and Shelly Arnold and her
husband Dan of Buxton, ME. His beloved eight grandchildren include Ayla
Hopkins, Kyaunna Libby, Jaimee Gammon, Parker Gammon, Gia Libby, Jessica
Arnold, Nicole Arnold, and Victoria Arnold.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday Jan. 31, from 4 – 6 PM at the Poitras, Neal & York Funeral Home, 71 Maple in Cornish. Burial with US Army Honors will be held on Friday May 27 at 1 PM at the Southern Maine Veterans Cemetery.
