Jorge G. Lima
LOWELL Jorge G. Lima, 95 of Lowell, passed away on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at AdviniaCare Wilmington. He was the husband of the late Avelina (Simao) Lima, who passed away in 2004 after fifty-five years of marriage.
He was born on June 23, 1926 in Graciosa, Azores, Portugal and was a son of the late Joao Ramos and the late Clotilde (Lima) Ramos. He was raised in Graciosa, where he attended the area schools. While in Graciosa, he worked in farming, fishing and whaling.
In 1966, Jorge relocated to the United States, setting in Lowell with his family. He resided in the Back Central Street neighborhood and was a communicant of St. Anthony Church. He was a member of the Portuguese American Club ‘the Red’s’ in Lowell. While in Lowell, he worked for Canada Dry and Commodore Foods for many years before his retirement. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Jorge is survived by his daughter, his siblings, and his nieces and nephews. He is also survived by many extended family and friends in the United States and Portugal
In accordance with the city of Lowell mandate, masks are required during his visitation and funeral services. On Tuesday, February 1, 2022 all are welcome to attend his calling hours from 8:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at the McDonough Funeral Home, 14 Highland Street, Lowell, 978-458-6816.
His Funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony Church, 893 Central Street, Lowell. Procession will follow for burial at St. Patrick Cemetery.
