Dorothy Jean (Harris) Thoms, age 90 of Prosser, WA. went to be with her savior on January 13th, 2022. She was born on November 9th, 1931 in Sunnyside, WA. to Roy and Elsie (Gordon) Harris. She was one of eighteen children. Dorothy graduated from Prosser High School with the class of 1950.
Dorothy met and fell in love with her husband Robert Thoms while roller skating at the Prosser Skating Rink. They married in September of 1950 and had two children. They lived in Ellensburg briefly then returned to Prosser where Dorothy continued as a homemaker, devoted wife, and loving mother.
Once her children were a little older, Dorothy went to work at the County Assessors office then transferred to the County Sheriffs office. She worked for approximately 30 years and retired in 1995.
Dorothy was a member of Friendship Baptist Church for 40 years where she participated and enjoyed singing in the choir. She enjoyed bowling, dancing, cooking, and most of all she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter Carolyn Thoms Meyers, her son Robert Mann Thoms III (Ginger); and grandchildren, Jarred Coffman (Marcie), Heath Coffman (Audrey), Kara Coffman Lucas (Eric), Donn R. Meyers (Abby), LaDonna Bailey Bobadilla (Claudio), Robert M. Thoms IV (Cesar), Dustin O. Thoms, and Dawnel Thoms Bryant (Don), and tons of great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years Robert M. Thoms Jr., her parents, son in-law Donn Meyers, grandson Justin Poteet, great grandson Cash Lucas, one brother and seven sisters.
A private family graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday January 22nd at the Prosser Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Friendship Baptist Church in Prosser.
