Arlene A. (Moniz) Rogers, 85, of New Bedford died January 22, 2022 unexpectedly at St. Anne's Hospital. She was the wife of the late William Rogers, Jr.
Born in New Bedford, daughter of the late Arthur and Lillian (John) Chaffin, she lived in New Bedford most of her life.
Arlene was formerly employed as a licensed hairdresser and general practical nurse before retiring as a medical records clerk at St. Luke's Hospital.
A dedicated Christian, Arlene loved the Lord her God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. She enjoyed spending time with her family and her loving companion dog Nika, going out to eat, playing cribbage, socializing and going to Disney World.
Survivors include her 3 daughters, Sharon Rogers and her husband Michael, Susan Rogers and her husband Dennis and Sharlene Fonseca, all of New Bedford; sister-in-law, Torsh Moniz of New Bedford; son-in-law, Raymond Fonseca; a cousin-in-law, Beverly Rogers; 11 grandchildren, Shealene, Sherell, Rochell, Sarah, Bethany, Bobby and his fiancée Carissa Hudson who was Arlene's caregiver, Kristie, Shaystin and his wife Stephanie, Denny Ray, Reasharl and Sheena Rea; 26 great-grandchildren, Brianna Mello, Hailey Mello, Michael Mello, Isabelle Soares, Janelle Pellerin, Genevieve Pellerin, Peyton, Jackson, Olivia and Avery, James Duponte, Emma Duponte, Charlotte O'Connor, Mckayla Soares, Travis Soares and Joshua Soares, Zahara-Love, ZyGiah-Ray and Zsanalys-Ray Fonseca, Justine Luce, Robert Luce, III, Jason Luce and their mother Kelly Cordeiro; Hunter Luce, Eliana Luce, Savannah Medeiros and Marc Medeiros, nieces and nephews, Mary Robinson and her husband Danny, Lillian Connor, Joey Moniz, Holly Maneval, Kyle Chevalier, Amy Bailey, Kimmy Sandel and Nicky Connor.
She was the sister of the late Joyce Chaffin and Joseph Moniz, aunt of the late Chuckie Moniz and Gary Rogers and cousin of the late Byron Rogers and Harry Rogers.
Her Memorial Service will be held on Saturday February 5, 2022 at 11 AM at the Reverence Church (the former South Baptist Church), 745 Brock Avenue, New Bedford. A reception will follow at the Wamsutta Club, 427 County St., New Bedford.
