Earl Leon Vetor, 90, of Anderson went to be with his Savior and Lord on January 24, 2022.
He was born in Gas City, Indiana to Chester and Mary (Lynch) Vetor. Earl graduated from Fairmount High School in 1949. He served in the U.S. Army in the 187th Paratroopers in Korea.
He was a member of Maple Grove Church of God. Also, Earl was a very active member of Gideons International for 50 years, holding many offices. In 1960 he received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Ball State Teachers’ College. In 1963 he received a Master of Science Degree from Purdue University.
During his career he was the Chief Engineer at Evans Products in Corvallis, Oregon. After returning to Anderson, Earl worked and later retired from Delco Remy in 1987 as an Electrochemical Engineer. He also served on the team of the Church of God Missions Board.
After an early retirement, he and his wife Betty made several mission trips to Africa and Central and South America. Having been a Tool and Die Maker, Earl was a skilled all-around handy man. He served many ways in these countries until 2001.
He married (Betty) Sue (Packard) on June 6, 1954. She survives. His children are Janeice (Kevin) Schmidt, Anderson; Diane (Mark) Wilkinson, Fishers; Laura (Jim) Johnson, Alexandria; Cara Beth Vetor, Fishers. Sister Beverly (Vetor) Smithson. Grandchildren Jeannette (Kyle) McMahon; Jocelyn Taylor; Jessica (Troy) Maxel; Jonathan (Jessica) and Joshua Roberts; Arthur and Patrick Wilkinson; Austin Kruse; five great-grandchildren, and many other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Barbara VanTiem and Rilla Yeakle.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Gideons International, P.O. Box 2472, Anderson, IN 46018. That was Earl’s wish. Earl enjoyed serving the Lord, farming and gardening.
