Emily Anne (Purcell) Herrera, 26, of Brockton, MA, passed away suddenly on January 15. She is survived by her loving husband Christopher Herrera.
Dedicated stepmom to Christopher and Noah Herrera and their partners Brenda Motta and Arianna Ortiz. Adored daughter of Anne (Barnes) Thomas and Richard of New Castle, DE, and Christopher and Carole Purcell of Deerfield Beach, FL. Dear sister of Christopher Purcell II and wife Arianna, Rickey Markland, Jr. of Newark, DE. Loving aunt to Bradley Purcell and Lylah Purcell. Treasured granddaughter of Diane Rew, the late Royce A. Purcell, and the late Bernice M. Barnes. Also survived by stepsiblings, Irene Green and husband Jody of McClure, PA, Liz Henley and James Henley of North Attleboro. She is also survived by her mother-in-law and late father-in-law, Carol and John Herrera and brothers and sisters-in-law John, Shelley, Anthony, Kathy, Andrea, and Jose. She was also “mom” to two loving and spoiled fur babies, Sisko and Loki, and a fun-loving cousin and cherished friend to many.
Emily was born in Newark, DE. She moved to Boston area in 2012.
She was an avid reader, a lover of puzzles and game nights with family. She loved to cook and was known for her Oatmeal cookies that would draw a crowd just from the incredible smell from them baking in the oven.
Emily was the quiet type but quick with a joke or funny wisecrack or one-liner, leaving you with a smile even if you didn’t realize you needed it.
She loved her Philadelphia Eagles even though she lived in a New England Patriot’s world.
She had a way of making her friends and family feel so special. She was a loyal friend who could always be counted on to lend an ear or shoulder when needed and loved and cared for everyone unconditionally.
Family and friends will honor Emily’s life by gathering on Sunday, January 30 from 2:00pm to 5:00pm in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman, and her funeral service on Monday January 31 at 10:00am in the Chapel. Burial will be in the Melrose Cemetery, Brockton MA.
The funeral home is handicapped accessible with an ample parking in lot.
