Linda M. (Rivet) Lapierre, age 67, passed away on Jan. 22, 2022 after a short but intense battle with cancer at Mercy Medical Center with her devoted husband and two children at her side. She was born on September 8, 1954 in Holyoke, and was a daughter of the late Roland and Blanche (Belanger) Rivet. Linda worked as a medical receptionist for over 20 years. She retired from Cooley Dickinson Hospital in 2020, and was the best mother and grandmother in the business. Clever, sarcastic and insightful humor were never in short supply, and we all imagine that wherever she is now she has the room in stitches. We are certain that her post-life accommodations involve a gaggle of beloved cats sitting on her lap admiring her immaculate manicure while she speed reads one juicy novel after another, sips French Martinis and chats Scott Weiland’s ear off. She loved the beach, a good lobster dinner, music, edge-of-your seat television, and an immaculately clean house. She was excellent at choosing sad movies, and always had deeply empathetic advice to offer. She was so special. Everyone who knew her loved her, and we all know that this will continue to be the case on the other side. She is survived and loved forever by her husband Gene Lapierre of Chicopee; one son Keith Senecal and his wife Lynn Bielin Senecal of Agawam; one daughter Kate Senecal and her husband Emerson Stevens of Easthampton; four step children, Marc Lapierre and his wife Stephanie of Springfield, Christine Lapierre and her husband Jonathan Mayotte of Palmer, Lisa Aube and her husband Anthony of Charlton, and Lynn Clark and her husband Jason of Ludlow; one brother Norman Rivet and his wife Kathy of Chicopee; 2 sisters, Rita Desautel of Chicopee and Emily Batchelet and her husband Richard of Winchester, VA; 8 grandchildren, Sophie, Zoe, Penelope, Cole, Reid, Jasper, Aurora, Archer and a beloved grandchild on the way, “Cupcake.” She also leaves many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Friday, January 28, 2022 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at the Grise Funeral Home, 280 Springfield St, Chicopee. The burial will be private at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dakin Humane Society, 171 Union St, Springfield, MA 01105.
