GRAVESIDE SERVICE IN UNION CEMETERY, NORTH STONINGTON
Edmond P. McGowan Sr. passed away Jan. 13, 2022. He was a lifelong resident of North Stonington, where he was born Aug. 31,1928, to Bessie Babcock and Thomas McGowan.
Edmond loved the town of North Stonington, and poured his life into making it a better town for all. He was a charter member of the North Stonington Volunteer Fire Company where he helped to build the original firehouse. He was a member of the North Stonington Little League where he helped build the fields at the Grange. He was a lifelong member of the North Stonington Lions Club, a lifelong member of the North Stonington Grange and a lifelong member of the North Stonington Ambulance Association which he, along with his wife, assisted their young son in founding. He tirelessly collected money for these associations to exist.
Edmond is survived by grandsons, Peter Caster and Erik Caster and Edmond McGowan III; and great-grandchildren, Raven, Declan, Samantha and Michael Caster, Edmond "Parker" and Delilah Rose McGowan; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Rose; and son Edmond Jr.; and 12 siblings.
