Obituary

After a long life filled with love, family, good food, golf, and baseball, Angelo A. Buonopane died January 22, 2022 at age 88.
Born in East Boston, Massachusetts on December 13, 1933, he was the beloved son of the late Priscilla and Michael Buonopane and youngest brother of his four late sisters, Mary Rauseo, Delia Paci, Florence Buonopane, and Eleanor Russo. After he met and married Sandra (Testa) on May 15, 1955, they moved to Malden where they raised their three daughters and welcomed spouses and grandchildren in the same residence for over 63 years. After graduating from Boston English in 1951, Angelo attended Northeastern University on a full scholastic and football scholarship. His love of baseball drew him to the Boston Globe where he played baseball for the Boston Typos and learned the printing trade. Angelo started as a typographical union compositor in 1952 and retired as an assistant foreman in 1995. He loved playing baseball for the Boston Typos and started playing as 3rd baseman. He managed the team
and was the commissioner for over 30 years. He was a member of the
International Typographical Union Chapter 13. In addition to baseball Angelo was an avid golfer. After he retired he worked at the Unicorn Golf Course in Stoneham for 26 years. Angelo leaves his loving wife, Sandra, of 66 years, and his daughters and their husbands and grandchildren who are grateful to have had him in their lives for so long. They are Donna Buonopane and her husband, Bart Main of Dennis, Karen and Bill Murray of Wakefield, and Nance and Phil Carbone of N. Reading. His four grandchildren, who he adored and who will miss his constant presence and
participation in their lives, are William Murray and his fiancé, Jessica Wiley of Nashville, TN, Kristin Murray and her fiancé, Matthew Sauter of Reading, Michael Carbone of Tewksbury, and Nicholas Carbone of N. Reading. He also leaves many loving extended family members. Due to current Covid restrictions, Angelo’s family hopes to be able to safely host
a Celebration of Life at a later date. Relatives & friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden on Thursday January 27th at 10 AM followed by burial in Winthrop Cemetery in Winthrop.
